JAMMU, May 30 (KNO) : Describing development between India and Pakistan to implement '2003 ceasefire agreement' as a positive sign, Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader from Jammu West Puneet Singh Jamwal today said that the move will come as a big relief for people living close to Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) and also pave way for breaking the ice to have an everlasting peace in the entire sub-continent.
Addressing party workers in a corner meeting here today, Puneet Singh Jamwal said late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed always favored talks over gun culture and recent moves of union government also strengthen his resolve. Terming offer for talks and ceasefire on borders as two major developments for Jammu and Kashmir he hoped that these moves will continue to roll on to reach their logical conclusion. The Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, he said left no stone unturned to come to the rescue of affected people of border areas and also made fervent appeals to cease fire. Now that things have fallen in place and there are very possibilities of borders falling silent, people can have sigh of relief. Fields can now be cultivated, livestock taken care of, schools can reopen, border tourism return and most importantly people can live in peace.
Asking party cadres to stay focused on mitigating sufferings of masses, Puneet said opposition was not playing a healthy role and trying to exploit even most sensitive situation like the one that had developed on borders. Instead of contributing towards peace, coming to the rescue of people or extending a helping hand to the sufferers they seized photo opportunities and exploited sentiments of affected villagers loving close to borders. He added now that Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both the countries have agreed to implement 2003 ceasefire agreement, maximum restraint should be exercised and it should not be restrained to holy month of Ramzan alone. Meantime, the state government, he added is taking good care of people affected during ceasefire violations. Every possible help is being extended to them as desired by the chief minister, he added.
